Pastoral Care

A 'sector-leading' approach to pastoral care: every child, at every stage, feels supported and valued.

When children are happy, they thrive socially, emotionally, physically and academically. That is why we put well-being at the centre of everything we do and why we take the time to build strong relationships with every child so we get to know them personally and understand how best to nurture them. We work together as a family at ESMS, building a caring, responsible community as your children grow. Every member of staff has responsibility for the wellbeing of the children in our care.

When families need that extra support the school is always there to provide a listening ear and professional way to help.

Anna Borthwick, ESMS Junior School Parent

Good pastoral care focuses on the whole child.  That is why we don’t limit it to the classroom. Our extensive programme of outdoor learning, includes residential trips from Primary 4-7 and an eight-day senior school residential in the Highlands. This helps to promote good mental and physical health and fosters self-belief and resilience.

Our nine school values underpin life at ESMS: Integrity, Responsibility, Grace, Enthusiasm, Appreciation, Confidence, Commitment, Respect and Kindness. These Values are taught from Nursery and help to shape the characters of our children and to create the happy and positive environment of which we are so proud.
